Privacy protection

The ODIS database has a purely scholarly objective, namely to promote interdisciplinary research into intermediary structures in Flanders (19th-20th century). The personal data to be included will mostly have a public character. Authors are themselves responsible for the scholarly interpretation of the relevant biographical data.

The project team respects completely the existing statutory regulations concerning the protection of personal privacy, and in particular the Royal Decree implementing the law of 8 December 1992 concerning the protection of personal privacy with respect to the processing of personal data (13 February 2001).

ODIS will particularly comply with the obligations expected of those responsible for the future processing of non-coded personal data for historical, statistical or scholarly purposes (Royal Decree 13/2/2001, articles II.20 etc.).

For more information concerning the issue of privacy protection, see the website of the Commission for Personal Privacy Protection.
