New Social Movements
On 22 November 2002 the third ODIS workshop was held in the Conference
Room of the Lower House of the Flemish Parliament in Brussels. The
meeting focused on the subject of the New Social Movements.
This umbrella term refers to the new organisations that grew out
of the wave of social protests at the end of the 1960s (the peace
movement, environmental movement, the women´s movement, …).
Historians and social scientists put their findings together, determined
their current position and explored new methods and lines of investigation.
The proceedings of this workshop have been published in the Belgian
Review of Contemporary History (Belgisch Tijdschrift voor
Nieuwste Geschiedenis - BTNG). A separate issue of this has also
been published in the series Odisea.
